Signage and wayfinding are critical components of the urban landscape. In spite of their importance, there has been no journal or comprehensive scholarly platform dedicated to this topic. As such, scholars from a variety of academic disciplines (law, planning, engineering, business, art, economics, architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design, and graphic design) publish work in journals within their home disciplines and rarely have a chance to communicate their cross-disciplinary findings. Sponsored by the Academic Advisory Council for Signage Research and Education (AACSRE), the Interdisciplinary Journal of Signage and Wayfinding seeks to bring them together by making such scholarship accessible to academics and practitioners alike. 

The IJSW provides open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All content in the IJSW is available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful, non-commercial purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, citing publication of this journal when applicable. The IJSW aims to publish twice annually, depending on submissions received.
